Midnimo Soccer Club

Midnimo Soccer Club

Midnimo Soccer Club is AYC's flagship outdoor soccer program, running every Saturday at Victoria University Footscray Park. The club provides African young people with a structured, competitive, and community-focused environment to develop their game and their character.

Midnimo — meaning 'peace' in Somali — reflects the values at the heart of the club: respect, unity, and belonging. Whether you're an experienced player or just starting out, Midnimo is a place where you're welcomed and valued.

Sessions run for five hours every Saturday, giving players plenty of time for warm-ups, drills, matches, and the social connection that makes the club so much more than sport.

Young Guns

Young Guns

Young Guns is AYC's indoor soccer club, offering three sessions a week across two venues. Indoor soccer is fast-paced, technical, and a fantastic way to develop skills year-round regardless of weather.

With sessions on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday, Young Guns gives young people a consistent weekly rhythm of sport, competition, and community — three chances every week to show up, play hard, and be part of something.

Why Sport Matters

Sport is one of the most effective tools for youth wellbeing. AYC's soccer clubs are more than games — they are structured, positive environments where young people develop skills, confidence, and deep community connection.

Physical Wellbeing

Regular physical activity improves mental health, reduces stress, and builds the energy and resilience young people need to thrive.

Teamwork & Discipline

Soccer teaches young people how to work together, communicate, and commit — skills that carry far beyond the pitch.

Positive Peer Networks

Playing alongside peers builds genuine friendships and a sense of belonging within a positive, structured social environment.

Cultural Identity

Soccer is deeply woven into African culture. Playing together affirms shared identity and pride in a space that celebrates who you are.

Part of the B-MAD Framework

Both clubs are core activities within AYC's B-MAD prevention framework — Beyond Mental Health, Alcohol & Drugs. By providing regular, structured sport, we build the protective factors — belonging, positive identity, routine, and peer connection — that support long-term mental health and keep young people away from harmful influences.
